The way the AP article reads, it isn't exactly clear whether or not they are renaming an existing concourse or adding on to the airport.
In Atlanta they were toying with the idea of corporate sponsorship for the airport concourses. "Your flight will be leaving from the Home Depot Concourse, gate number 5. It is just past the Coca Cola Concourse, but before you get to the UPS Concourse."
Of course, in Atlanta, they already spend hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars renaming the streets after sitting city council members. (or their children, friends, neighbors, pets, etc.)
The only thing good I will ever say about the Hartsfield-Atlanta airport is that I don't have to go there all that often. I don't give a shit WHAT they name the concourses. I just wish my incoming flight wasn't ALWAYS as far away as I could be from my OUTGOING flight.
And put a goddam vent fan in the smoking fishbowl, for crying out loud.

Posted by: Ravenwood at October 29, 2002 7:27 PMThose smoking rooms weren't all that bad when I was there....of course, on my way back from Casa Acidman I was so used to the thick gray smoke lingering everywhere that I may not have noticed.
Atlanta isn't all that bad. DOA SUCKS! And, the damn security at San Diego/Lindbergh Field is the slowest and longest line I've EVER SEEN!
Posted by: Da Goddess at October 30, 2002 12:46 AMGoddess, this isn't gonna make you sleep any easier: my brother is a commercial pilot. He tells me the two most dangerous airports to land at are Reagan (National) in DC, and Lindgergh Field in San Diego.
I try to avoid them both. When I fly to DC, I fly into Dulles (I love hearing the flight attendants say, "Welcome to Washington's Dullest Airport :) ). And since most of my family is in the L.A. area, when I have to travel to San Diego, I'll fly into LAX and rent a car so that I can visit family and drive down to SD when I have to be there.
