Election was mostly good news, some bad
Ravenwood - 11/06/02 09:38 AM
Why Ravenwood is happy:
- Democrats lost control of the Senate. Now a filibuster is the only way they can cause gridlock.
- Judicial nominees will start to be approved.
- A homeland security bill can be passed without having to kowtow to big government unions.
- Roy Barnes was voted out in Georgia. Georgia has their first Republican governor since reconstruction.
- The liberals on democraticunderground.com are going nuts. ("the new computerized voting machines, and the fact that they are made by a Republican contributor should be a giant red flag.")
- Tax cuts may be accelerated.
- Tax cuts may be made permanent.
- Capital gains tax cuts may be passed.
- My stocks are more likely to start going up.
- All of my local tax levies were defeated.
- Pro-CCW Republican judges were elected to the Ohio Supreme Court.
- Terry McAuliffe is quaking in his boots.
- Saddam Hussein is quaking in his boots.
- Jumpin' Jim Jeffords is quaking in his boots.
- PC Coffee was struck down, in Bezerkeley of all places.
- Oregon voted against socialized health care. (Part of me wanted them to pass it, so I'd be able to watch the fallout)
- Kathleen Kennedy Townsend can start going by Kathleen Townsend again.
- Even Taxachussetts voted against a Democratic governor.
Why Ravenwood is sad:
- Pleasure Police won a smoking ban in Florida.
- Florida chose to throw a ton of money into reducing their class size with no guarantee of results.
- New Jersey validated Democratic disenfranchisement with a Lautenberg win.
- California voted to support rolling blackouts by returning Gray-out Davis to office.
- Ravenwood moved away from Georgia and wasn't able to personally vote Roy Barnes out of office
This is a partial list, and I may add to it later if I have time. Feel free to add your own to the comments.
The pleasure police were obviously imported from California.
