Carl Collins' wife had filed a restraining order against him. Police had filed an arrest warrant against him. He had even previously threatened her with a gun. Still, Carl Collins was able to break into his estranged wife's home and sever the phone lines so that she could not ring the police. Fortunately, when Collins' chased his wife into her son's room, he was met with a load of buckshot and pronounced DRT*.

This ties in perfectly with my post this morning about wanting a gun.
I want my ex husband to be DRT when he comes after me some day.
Posted by: michele at November 8, 2002 11:09 AMEven though Smith & Wesson deserves the total scorn of any self-respecting gun owner, I recommend their "Ladysmith" .38 revolver for dealing with burglars, crazed ex-husbands and other such vermin.
It holds five rounds, is small enough for a woman's hand (and her purse), makes ONE HELL of a noise and will ruin the entire day of anyone shot with it.
I'm sure a respectable firearm manufacturer makes an equilivent model, so buy theirs. S&W sucks for caving to the anti-gun Nazis.
Posted by: Acidman at November 8, 2002 8:43 PMActually, S&W quietly dropped their agreement with the gun lobby, so they are back in my good graces. However, if you wish to hold a grudge, I don't blame you.
Posted by: Ravenwood at November 8, 2002 8:59 PMI'm still waiting for someone to come help me find the right protection.
There are times when a gun is a girl's best friend. Especially when the woman lives alone, has an ex, and isn't getting anywhere with the authorities
