Posted by: Ravenwood at November 19, 2002 5:09 PMSteve,
The .300 Ultra Mags run about $35-40 per box of 20 retail. I reload them, but this was for a good cause...and I can always use the brass :)
I would have bought more 7.62 ammo, but I just purchase 1000 rounds a few days ago.
As for reloading, I don't. So far, I don't have any guns where it would be economical. My rifles are designed to shoot cheap ammo, and ammo for my handguns is relatively common and inexpensive. ($ 0.16 per round)
Posted by: Ravenwood at November 20, 2002 11:06 AMMost of my ammo is store-bought, for the same reason as you: it's cheap, and there isn't much savings from reloading it. But the .300 Ultra Mag is the exception; it's $2/round retail and I can get the cost down to about 60 cents/round by reloading it. That was enough to justify buying the reloading equipment.
My handgun ammo is less than 20 cents/round, as is the shotgun ammo. I'd have to burn through a LOT of it to justify reloading either.
