Chew on this one for a while. The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute did a little research into just who was arming Iraq. Notice that the top three countries all have something in common. Also pay attention to the color coding and footnotes.

Posted by: bogie at April 18, 2003 6:38 AMExcept that if you actually go and look at the data that SIPRI has on their site (http://projects.sipri.se/armstrade/Trnd_Ind_IRQ_Imps_73-02.pdf) they show no data from 1990-2002. So this merely shows that the USSR sold a lot of stuff to Iraq from 1973-1990, which we all knew. It's not so easy to draw references when you actually look at the data, huh?
