Although I really hate polls, I've been inspired by Dean. I'm hoping to collect feedback from users on how they view the site. This first ever poll on Ravenwood's Universe asks which style sheet you use. I'm interested in learning how many people use the differing colors to cater the site to their tastes. Personally, I like the original black with orange lettering, but I've had several people tell me that it can be hard on the eyes, at times. (Which is why I created the different styles to begin with.)
This poll is for informational purposes only, and I have no plans on ditching any of the style sheets. Thus, there is no need for ballot stuffing.
There HAS to be a way to track what skin people use most.
Posted by: Da Goddess at April 28, 2003 1:33 AMThere's a script over at Scripty Goddess, I think, that tracks what's getting the most clicks. Might be a way to know. Most importantly, it might be a way to know without pop-ups. Grrr.

As for the style sheets, I could probably check my stats and see which CSS file was being called the most. Also I could have a script do it for me, as Goddess suggested. The only problem with that is that it is counting 'usage' and not 'users'. That would mean that every time a view my own page, or refresh it after I make a change, I'm skewing the results, whereas with the poll, I'm counting individual users.

I did the same thing you did... created stylesheets for the whiners.... then I noticed how rarely I switch stylesheets at ANY site. All those nice "skins" and styleswitchers are cool and geeky (which I like quite a bit....) but "content is king" and I read, possibly link then move on.... I rarely switch the styles on ANY site, including my own.
