De-Link Whoring

iconIf I'm ever hard up for an Amishlanche, I'm going to consider publicly delinking Amish Tech Support. I noticed that last time Laurence featured me on a post, I got a good 150 visits out of it. Laurence's rant about recently being publicly de-linked is sure to net the offender 300 or more hits. Is he simply link-whoring? I'm not sure, but he trackbacked both the originial post, and Laurence's reaction.

Perhaps I could try a daily de-linking, and see how long it takes the law of diminishing returns to kick in. One of these days, I'll take the initiative to try that with Instapundit. Assuming Glenn would notice, I might get an Instalanche worth thousands of visits. Of course, the resulting hate mail might be a bit annoying, but there is no such thing as bad publicity, right?

You know how long it takes a guy hooked up to a low-band ISP through a third world phone company to have your page load into his browser? Uh, 17 minutes, including the three disconnects at 16kps. I usually would never wait that long, but I heard you said something about me ... and I liked it. Expect a trackback. Oh, by the way, no, I did not do it to attract readership, but if it brings it my way, what the hey? It is not the first time I said something about the way Laurence posts, but I guess the trackbacking was not working when I was posting through Blogger. MT does a good job of it.

Note to self: delink Steve, make a big deal about it. Consider saying something about how he's anti-pearls or offended by persistent swearing. Wait two weeks, realize he's a good read despite our differences and it's only blogging, then re-link him.

I think part of that is that my webhost is running very slow today for some reason. It started running slow around 4 PM (EDT) at work over our T1, and is still running slow over my DSL line. Other sites on my webhost are running fine, so I'm not sure what the problem is.

As of right now, it seems to be fixed.

I'll de-link your whining ass in a minute and make a BIG DEAL out of it if you want me to. In fact, you've given me an idea for something to blog about when I'm bored and don't have any original thoughts.

Let me just spin the Wheel of Fortune and de-link somebody for the hell of it. I can make it a weekly feature called "Your Lucky Day!"

It's kinda like "Survivor." Yeah... I LIKE it!

I wager that I could send you more hits than Laurence, just by telling people to come here.

Watch.

I know... let's all delink someone, send all the traffic that way for a day, relink them, then pick someone else the next day....

you've seen the "bore-blogging," right... we could do "delinking-blogging"... a new trend!!!

I've ranted about this a couple of times.... most recently in early March, when Rachel Lucas was "on break" or some stupid shit, but couldn't stay away....

If I linked to as many blogs as possible and then delinked them all with trackbacks, would the resulting surge in traffic throw the Earth into a black hole?
