Fox News notes that the Student Government Association at the University of Central Florida recently spent $7,000 to send students to a pro-marijuana conference in California. They also spent $10,000 to buy high-definition plasma televisions, and $140,000 on tickets to Disney World. However when it comes to shelling out $3,140 to buy American flags for the campus classrooms, it's no sale.
They say international students, among others, might be intimidated by the sight of an American flag in a college classroom. [...]Ahh, nothing says liberalism like the veiled nazi accusation.ROCK [Rebuilding on a Conservative Kornerstone] provided to Fox News e-mails from other student groups who stated, among other things, that the U.S. flag symbolizes violence and fascism.
The whole UCF American Flag thing outrages me. The fact that some students at an AMERICAN university are against the AMERICAN flag bewilders me. Why would you attend an American University and then decide that the flag insults you? I mean, honestly. That's like me going over to France for college and then telling them that I don't like their flag and it needs to be removed. They'd probably kill me! Here's a solution: If you don't like the American flag, then don't come over here for an education and career. Move somewhere where they care!
