Hey, don't you know that if one's an athlete, that they're subject to a slap on the hand and can resume their normal routines?
I was listening to the news last night when the sports report came on. The sports guy was reporting about the Lakers and how anyone expecting to see Kobe play would have to wait - due the injury that was plaguing him. Forget that there's a trial going on. Forget that he stands accused of rape. It's the injury that gets mentioned.
Athletes have always been able to get away with bad behavior. Until there are harsher consequences for their actions, they'll continue to do so.

Not to condone the actions, but the only reason this has become an issue is because it was caught on tape.
That kind of stuff happens during any contact sport, you just don't usually get to see it on the nightly news.
