"Ravenwood's Universe is a funny, well written, long running, consistently updated blog. So why hasn't it ever taken off? My theory? The page colors are the problem." -- John Hawkins, Right Wing News.
And here I thought it was because it's overweight and has stubby little penguin-like wings. Apparently it's a rods and cones problem. (go figure.)
Good lord the man is right. If i didn't know better i'd swear this was something on geocities...

You can change the colors using the style sheet selector on the left.
Posted by: Ravenwood at November 8, 2003 11:57 PMI "get" the color scheme. Ravenwood's UNIVERSE.....black. Like space.
Frankly, I think people are afraid of your stance on Chicken Safety
Posted by: Da Goddess at November 9, 2003 12:01 AMWhat do you think about an additional non-pastel style? But oddly, I never thought of the colors until I read that quote. You have the best libertarian blog I have encountered, so it doesn't matter a damn.
Posted by: Gam at November 9, 2003 12:38 AMBlack text on gray looks fine to me (at least that's what I get with automatically-load-images checked OFF). On the other hand I rarely read rightwingnews because it takes too long to load. Go figure that.
I NEVER read wesley pruden because there's some code in this that causes a semi-infinite and unkillable swap-space chase when I try. I have to come back a half hour later and see if the computer recovered so I can terminate the page. So I don't go near that place any longer. This seems to be a common piece of code, whatever it is. Screw them.
I think it's a FindObject call but am not sure.
I got a PC with 32mb of memory so it would have extra. Parkinson's law applied though.
Posted by: Ron Hardin at November 9, 2003 7:30 AMI never noticed the style sheets. They don't seem to work for the comments section, though. (At least in Opera)
Posted by: Matt Harris at November 9, 2003 5:15 PMThe guy's right. It even sucks when using the "author" mode in Opera, though it's readable.
