Owen Courreges is dismayed that Rice and UT are going to renew their affirmative action programs following Sandra Day O'Connor's ruling that racial discrimination should be permitted for the next 25 years. Ever since, university officials have been busy counting and classifying people by the color of their skin, and coming up with quotas for each color of person they want attending their school.
"We have thoroughly studied the matter through the summer and into the fall," said Rice President Malcolm Gillis. "Since 1996, we have tried race-neutral means, but these alone haven't yielded the necessary level of diversity, including racial and ethnic diversity, to achieve Rice's educational goals."(emphasis mine)
