It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad Cow

iconAm I the only person out there yawning over this supposed mad cow scare? Personally, I think this is more about news ratings and less about food safety. The same people that are harping on mad cow, also got their panties in a bind over shark attacks and anthrax letters. Meanwhile, you are probably at least 100 times more likely to be killed on your commute to work this morning.

Whenever you see a "threat" like this played up in the absence of actual harm already done to actual victims, the odds are about nine to one that the media, some government bureaucracy, or both are trying to manufacture a crisis in support of their own agendas.

There were nearly 300,000 deaths due to prostate cancer among American men last year. Read any news items about that lately?

Ha, fooled you - I don't have a commute to work today. And, I managed to take a shower without killing myself, so it's a good day!

I hope it lowers the price of beef. Hopefully a lot of people will go vegan and my lovely hamburger will go down to $1.5 a pound. (See, there is a brighter side.)
