I think the point he's making is he's a cab driver in San Fransisco and he's an idiot.

You guys are a bit rough on Night Cabbie.

I've enjoyed his columns for five years now. They're stream of consciousness, hack's-eye-view of the world around him. He picks odd people up, comments on who they are and where they're going, and perhaps the reader can infer something about the world at large.

Nothing more, nothing less. Although most of his columns have more than one fare for perspective.

It's not a one-shot article.

having read several of the archived columns, I'd have to say there isn't a point to any of them.... I'd guess they're not bad, if one is enlightened by sensless babbling, or is looking for completely mindless entertainment (reference point: The White Stripes and/or any song by Poison), but hey, that might just be my impression.
