The AP reports that "Baghdad" Jim McDermott, best known for selling out his country to Saddam Hussein inadvertently omitted "under God" from the Pledge of Allegiance.
The ``under God'' is an abomination. It ruins the meter as only a tone-deaf writer could; and it's equally stupid. McDermott should have refused the entire pledge as a stupid poem of course. Then you get into the flag desecration wars, and the place of Gaping Flaming Pig-Eyed Stupidity in patriotism. McDermott seems to occupy an expedient position rather than a principled one. I'd prefer pro-war and anti-pledge myself.
I liked John & Ken (KFI) on the Pledge http://rhhardin.home.mindspring.com/pledge.ram (better after the first segment).
