It's been nearly a month, and still nary a peep of outrage about Chris Dodd's comments on Robert 'KKK' Byrd. In case you've already forgotten, Chris Dodd made a gaffe very similar to the one that cost Senator Trent Lott his Senate Leadership position.
"I do not think it is an exaggeration at all to say to my friend from West Virginia that he would have been a great senator at any moment," Mr. Dodd, Connecticut Democrat, said while praising Mr. Byrd last week on the occasion of the eight-term Democrat's 17,000th Senate vote.Trent Lott was lambasted in the media for praising 100 year old Strom Thurmond, a one time segregationist. Senator Robert Byrd, D-WVa was not only a ranking member of the Ku Klux Klan, but he filibustered the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964; something that Chris Dodd apparently thinks was "right" for this nation.Mr. Dodd continued: "He would have been right at the founding of this country. He would have been in the leadership crafting this Constitution. He would have been right during the great conflict of Civil War in this nation."
So the question is, where is the outrage, and how much have you heard about this over the past month?
