With 99 of 100 votes cast in the Senate, the Democrats failed to extend federal unemployment benefits by a single vote. Just one more vote was all they needed to help out the poor, the downtrodden, the victims of the ailing Bush economy. A single vote would have taken money from the dreaded, evil, rich and put it into the pockets of those Americans who really need it most.
That vote could have been cast by Presidential wanna-be and Senator John Kerry. But like so many other votes, Senator Kerry missed it because he was out stumping on the campaign trail.
