Neal Boortz notes something funny about this whole Sandy Berger kerfuffle. If you haven't heard, Clinton's ex National Security Advisor Sandy Berger was caught removing classified documents from the National Archives. Whether or not the America's former head of National Security really had no idea that removing classified material was a crime and could comprimise national security is up for debate. But what is very telling is how cool, calm, and collected the media is acting about all of this. What if this had been a Bush appointee? What if this were Dick Cheney and he was taking home top secret energy documents?
It would be the top story of every newscast, the Democrats would be calling for that person's arrest and screaming for an independent counsel. The media would be polling the public...."do you think Republicans are trying to hide something when they steal classified documents?" There would be no presumption of innocence, there would be no waiting for the investigation to be completed before passing judgment. But Berger is a Democrat appointee. So even if partisan Republicans want to make an issue out of it, the media will just roll their collective eyes.
After all this is the same Democrat party and media accomplices who, when it surfaced that their game plan was to block minority judicial appointments for political reasons, called for an investigation of Republicans for reading their private memos.
