The AP and ABC News are pointing out that Cheney and Senator Edwards had in fact met before, contradicting what Cheney told the audience during last night's debate.
Cheney said that as President of the Senate, he spends most Tuesday's in the Senate chambers, and that he doesn't recall ever meeting John Edwards. But apparently Cheney was lying. While he indeed didn't see the Senator wandering around the Senate chamber, he did meet Edwards three different times: behind the scenes at a taping of "Meet the Press"; at Senator Elizabeth Dole's swearing in ceremony; and at breakfast 3 1/2 years ago.
Is this the best they can do?
Cheney counter-argument: He was referring to meeting Edwards while Edwards was actually , you know, working.

The man who could be President if (god forbid) something happens to Georg Bush in the next few weeks either:
A. Doesn't remember someone he met several times?
B. Lied straight to the American people about a fact, so he could score a political point.
So, you're right, it's not important. Cheney is either mentally fuzzy or doesn't value telling America the truth.
Which of those was the insignifigant point?
