New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg is whining that state's like Alaska are getting too much terror funding.
Alaska gets $92 per resident in security cash while New York gets about a third of that per resident.According to 2003 census estimates, Alaska has 648,818 people, netting the state $59.6 Million. On the other hand, New York has a population of 19,190,115, which would net the state $588.5 Million. Assuming the money is distributed evenly, New York City's year 2000 population of 8,008,278 would net the city $245.6 Million. New York City receives more than 4 times the funding that the largest state in the U.S. gets to secure her 656,425 square miles.
Perhaps Bloomberg could raise the cigarette tax a few more dollars to make up his shortfall.
