"Sexuality is a large issue in America right now, but it isn't so much in other countries. There's a raging fundamentalism in morality in the United States. From day one audiences didn't show up. They didn't even read the reviews in the [American] south because the media was using the words: 'Alex is Gay'." -- Oliver Stone, blaming the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy for the flop of his multimillion dollar failure, Alexander.
Did you go see Alexander? No? You must be a raging moral fundamentalist then.
I didn't go see it because it looked horrendously pompous and altogether boring.

Posted by: DaveJ at January 6, 2005 12:51 PMI guess maybe I was supposed to show up simply because Oliver Stone directed it. Whoops.
Note to Oliver: I didn't see your movie precisely because of some of the reviews I read.
Posted by: roger at January 6, 2005 2:45 PMOh, boo hoo Mr. Stone. Please quit blaming your short-sightedness on the public just because they stayed away from your lousy film in droves.
Posted by: Steve Scudder at January 6, 2005 5:40 PMUm...all the reviews said it sucked, and my wife says that Colin Farrell looks stupid with blond hair, apparently negating his usual hotness.
Posted by: Heartless Libertarian at January 7, 2005 5:49 PMRiiight. Your wife said that.
I read enough of the review to find out that this is another "historical" movie by that master of rewriting history, Oliver Stone. That's enough for me. Maybe I'll see it when the DVD lands in the remainder bin at $1.00 - if I've got time to waste.
