God bless the liberal media. They took some innocuous machismo comments and turned them on their head. CNN and others are claiming that a Marine General said "It's fun to shoot people". Indeed, the CNN Headline proclaims: Marine general: It's 'fun to shoot people'
The problem is, that isn't what he said. He said it's fun to shoot some people. And that 'some' makes all the difference.
"Actually it's quite fun to fight them, you know. It's a hell of a hoot," Mattis said, prompting laughter from some military members in the audience. "It's fun to shoot some people. I'll be right up there with you. I like brawling. Now, beating up women is a pet peeve of mine. It causes me to see that red curtain of blood that Kim is always talking about."You go into Afghanistan, you got guys who slap women around for five years because they didn't wear a veil," Mattis said. "You know, guys like that ain't got no manhood left anyway. So it's a hell of a lot of fun to shoot them."
Now, I'm not saying I would go out and shoot wife-beaters like some psychotic vigilante. But I can certainly relate to where the General is coming from.
If they were to actually lead with a direct quote, there would be no sensational headline to drum with.
Great fodder for the terminally misinformed who may frequently just scan headlines for their info.

I agree with him. Hell, if he said it is fun to shoot people I would have no qualms on that either. He is in the military, his job is to kill the enemies of the U.S. Not play the role of being all touchy feely about so-called political matters. The more efficiently you do your job the faster you should go up in rank, not who's political butt you kiss.
Sounds like he likes to shoot bullies. Hell, what kind of person **doesn't** get the urge to take out cowardly bullies (a reduntant description, I admit)?
