Despite the recent investment in this website, I want to reiterate that Ravenwood's Universe will continue to be an ad-free zone. While I obviously reserve the right to change my mind in the future, there are currently no plans to host paid advertisements on this website. Although I have been contacted by a few advertisers who are keenly interested in cluttering up the Universe with their banners, I have humbly declined.
This site will continue to remain that ad-free until I am either unable to fund it, or I am tempted by the ever-increasing lure of easy money and a compulsive gun-buying habit.
Communist.

Posted by: MMW at February 15, 2005 12:33 PMIt's pronounced philanthropist.
Posted by: Ravenwood at February 15, 2005 1:02 PMThe lack of ads is appreciated. If you do go down that road, make sure it is for quality firearms.
Posted by: Michael at February 15, 2005 1:13 PMI agree with MMW, the ads wouldn't be horrible, as long as you took a measured approach. I think an example of a website that tastefully advertises is penny-arcade (a game/comic site). They only allow advertisers that they think will appeal to their users, and approve all of the ad designs before they go on the page.
Posted by: Pasty at February 15, 2005 1:26 PMThere could also be a sense of irony if you did allow ads like Ann Coulter's site does. Last time I checked, there was an ad for Support Kerry in '08!
Ha!
Posted by: Steve Scudder at February 15, 2005 2:12 PMI don't do it either, and I get offers. I dunno. Running ads, unless it was to sell my own stuff, would make me feel dirty.
