I feel safer already

iconThe TSA has added Zippo lighters to their list of banned items, meaning that just about every way of igniting a cigarette or cigar is banned on commercial aircraft. The Zippo people are worried that this will destroy the market among collectors, who apparently fly to Zippo swap meets and events.

Methinks the airlines need to go back to private security before the TSA drives all their business away.

Funny thing is, I know of someone who forgot and left several shotgun shells (unexpended) in his jacket pocket, and went through several airports with out them being spotted; he didn't even realize he had them in a zipped pocket until he got home.
Yet they worry that someone with a pair of nail clippers and a BIC is going to hijack a plane...hell, I don't thing even 007 could do that...LOL

No, the zippos have been banned for a long time on most airlines for being "HAZ-MAT", i.e., hazardous materials due to the liquid fluid. But, the latest deal is the regular bic lighters due to bullshit reactive security "concerns". Look for a lot more air-rage now that you can't even smoke during your connection, except for ...

matches, which the wanted to ban, but didn't cause they know they can't find them on everyone. No end to the stupidity of the US government ...
