I didn't do quite as well as Kevin, but then he probably hadn't been drinking when he took the test.

100%, 100%, 93%, 73%. (I think I might have been a little too cautious in not choosing some of the "a and b" answers.)
23 yearolds didn't do very well... 100th percentile with only a 73% on expert.

Does this mean I should quit blogging?

No, it means that the scoring algorithm is buggy. To quote the answer page, "Sometimes its calculations are wrong, giving you 0% when you answered all of them correctly in reality."
Same thing happened to me: 0,0,0,95
Only 95% Expert? I'm so ashamed.
Posted by: Drew at March 4, 2005 5:24 PMActually, I wouldn't ascribe too much import to that test. I'm a bit punctilious about diction, and this test fell short. I looked at the "answers to beginner section" and the explanation of "wish" and "hope" was horrible.
In the example provided, both are correct depending on context and dialect. I got it "right" because I knew what the maker was looking for, but hope is equally appropriate in that sentence, as the speaker very well may intend to indicate expectation.
In the later sections, the semicolon question was equally bad; although the colon was completely wrong, a period would have made it much more clear than a semicolon.
Geez, I'm a nerd.
