Kim du Toit points out your tax dollars at work.
While most believe this highway will be good for the state's economy, religious conservatives believe "I-69" sounds too risque and want to change the interstate's number. [Republican Rep. John] Hostettler, a proponent of the interstate extension, agrees. "Every time I have been out in the public with an 'I-69' button on my lapel, teenagers point and snicker at it."Just so they don't change it to I-68. That's just like 69, except I owe you one.

Why would he be wearing a pin that says "I-69" in the first place? Is he just a big fan of roads?
Personally, I'd laugh at him just for being an interstate groupie, then take his lapel pin.

Posted by: DaveJ at March 22, 2005 8:16 AMIt must be a (generally) North-South road. Even numbers are for East-West roads. Same thing goes for US numbered highways (with the white shield).
So, you can't change it to I-68.
Rather than changing the highway's designation, it'd be much easier for the congressman to just keep his mind out of the gutter. ipso, facto, problem solved ;-}
