Freedom is spreading even further in the Middle East. The Ass. Press notes that women's suffrage is coming to Kuwait.
Kuwaiti lawmakers approved political rights for women Monday, clearing the way for females to participate in parliamentary elections for the first time in the Gulf nation's history. This is clearly all Bush's fault. Gains in women's rights were likely born out of the liberation of Afghanistan, where in 2001, it was illegal for women to be taught to read without permission. In 2004, more than 40% of registered voters were women. Let's home Kuwait makes similar improvements. However, fundamentalist Muslims included a requirement that any female politician or voter abide by Islamic law. It was not clear what limits that would put on women's rights.
