Access to New York Times columnists like Maureen Dowd, Bob Herbert, Nicholas Kristof, and Paul Krugman will soon cost you $49.95.
UPDATE: Taranto one-ups my headline with "For $69.95, They'll Leave Out Dowd and Krugman"
I think the NYT doesn't realize why their editorial page is so popular. It's a ``somebody _pays_ for this crap?'' moment for most online viewers.

Going for a Newsweak-style headline are we? We'll have rioting in the streets by "outraged" lefties! ;-)
Posted by: Steve Scudder at May 17, 2005 6:41 AMHaha.. Didn't even realize. Actually I was thinking back to when George Costanza was talking to the mechanics at the Saab Dealership. He said something like, "Get my car fixed at a dealership? Why don't I just flush my money down the toilet?"
Posted by: Ravenwood at May 17, 2005 7:20 AMIt's a plan to reduce the readership of their bizzare columnists outside their print distribution area. That would be an expression of their ancient instinct to hide their biases.
