Flags to be seized under Eminent Domain

If they are unable to pass a Constitutional Amendment banning flag burning, GOP lawmakers plan to use their powers of eminent domain to seize flags from private citizens to prevent them from being burned.

The proposed Constitutional Amendment would read, "The Congress shall have power to prohibit the physical desecration of the flag of the United States." But the Amendment process is lengthy and has a low probability for success. But yesterday's Supreme Court ruling, which found that private property could be seized as long as there was some sort of public benefit, gives lawmakers the power to act immediately.

Depending on their size and condition, the seized flags will be put to use flying over government buildings, and vehicles such as fire trucks. Flags that are no longer suitable for display will be disposed of in accordance with the U.S. Flag Code, 176(k) which states: "The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning."

I have absolutely no problem with hippies burning the flag. If hippies have touched out flag, then it has been desecrated and "should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably burning." The flag of our nation represents our nation's ideal and if the one who possesses it doesn’t believe in that ideal then it is transformed into a meaningless cloth that has lost it's spirit and is therefore soiled and should be destroyed.
I am not, however, okay with the Gov't seizing private property in order to prevent it's potential misuse. I think a better law would be to make it illegal to import or export a United States Flag for commercial sale. That would mean that all flags in the US would need to be produced in the US and that the prices would go up accordingly. Especially if we tacked on standards of production quality, like saying they can't be printed, all parts must be sewn together, etc. I bet you would see a dramatic decrease in the number of Flag burnings if the cheapest one you could get cost $50. Not to mention, if you saw some dirty Arabs on TV burning a flag you could simply say "That's not a real one. It was probably printed on a machine in China or Pakistan. It's like burning a cheap, generic T-shirt." If it wasn't made by and American, and it doesn't represent American Ideals, it is meaningless and it's destruction is not only acceptable, it's a necessity.

I believe Congress would be better served by passing a law which allowed citizens to take any and all actions to prevent desecration of the flag, without any legal penalty. So, when the dirty hippy or pig fucking raghead cocksucker (dont like them much) was caught burning a flag, you could beat the shit out of them with a baseball bat, boil them in oil, feed them halfway through a tree shredder, and then make the remains dance the hemp fandango - and that would be perfectly OK.
Works for me.
