Yeah, tell me about it. Just spent $120 on some green tip 5.56. Feh.
Posted by: SayUncle at July 28, 2005 8:38 AMTell ya what, if you want some free ammo I've got a 50 count box of .22lr Thunderbolts with your name on it.
Posted by: countertop at July 28, 2005 8:59 AMThat just means I'd have to go out and buy a gun that shoots them.

Sounds like quite a bargain. The "gun-free utopia" street price is about $25.00 for a .22 revolver in Anacostia.*
*actual price may vary depending on crack and meth market fluctuations.
Posted by: Steve Scudder at July 28, 2005 10:00 AMWhat kind of self respecting American doesn't own a .22????????????
You don't have a .22 for plinking?
I have two .22 rifles, one shoots wimpy .22, and the other shoots .22 WMR. Neither will shoot .22 lr.
Posted by: Ravenwood at July 28, 2005 11:29 AMOne shoots wimpy .22 but won't shoot .22LR??? What on earth? You must have some sort of antique that was chambered only for .22 short, like one of those gallery rifles from days gone by. Every other .22 rimfire out there can handle .22LR. Just about every bolt gun can also use .22 Long and .22 Short, though lots of semi-autos can't handle the Shorts.
Personally I feel ALL .22 rimfires are wimpy. Sure, they are fine for dirt cheap short range target practice, and for popping squirrels and rats, but that's about it.
Posted by: Drew at July 28, 2005 1:08 PMI've done some pretty amazing stuff with 22LR, don't knock them too much.
My second SHTF gun will likely be my 22LR after my AK. The thing with laser sights will kill anything deer sized with a double tap to the head. Plus being able to carry 1,500 rounds without breaking a sweat is nice.
Posted by: Rhett at July 28, 2005 2:44 PM.22 LR is a preferred assasin cartridge.
Posted by: Steve Scudder at July 28, 2005 3:36 PMMy mistake Drew. It is .22lr. It was an old rifle my dad gave me, that I've never gotten around to even firing.
Posted by: Ravenwood at July 28, 2005 9:25 PMWell then, I guess I'll keep that box of Thunderbolts for you till your ready to shoot them.
PLinking with a .22 is great fun.
