The pessimists are predicting $5 a gallon gasoline.
"We could be looking at gasoline lines and $4 gas, maybe even $5 gas, if this thing does the worst it could do," said energy analyst Peter Beutel of Cameron Hanover. "This storm is in the wrong place. And it's absolutely at the wrong time," said Beutel. What is an absolute certainty will be the accusations of price gouging and "big oil" profiteering.
If there are lines and/or shortages then the price has not been raised high enough.
Anyone who claims that price gouging is occuring should be slapped repeatedly until s/he STFU.
As the owner of an SUV and a Volvo with a Ford 302 V8, I have to say I am not looking forward to the (potentially) higher prices :-(.
Posted by: Bob at September 23, 2005 1:45 PMOne or two lessons I hope come out of this hurricane season, vis-a-vis energy policy:
* we need quite a few more refineries
* they should be located out of the worst weather areas. The coast of Maine seems about right. Or in Ohio too.
* one or two flavors of gasoline is enough. 27 varieties is what you want at the ice cream shop, not the gas pump
* nuke-u-lar reactors! Remember them? More please!
Need anymore reason to quit the stalling and drill in the ANWR and quit depending on OPEC and quit listening to the eco-freaks at SIERRA CLUB and GREENPEACE
Posted by: screaming eagle at September 24, 2005 4:04 PMPeople bitching about the price of gasoline should STFU and build their own refineries.
