I never liked how Disney ripped off Hans Christian Andersen stories as their own (ie: The Little Mermaid, Cinderella, Thumbelina, Ugly Duckling, etc.). But this looks like a blatant plagiarism.
Tezuka, 1965
Kimba, the White Lion
Disney, 1994
Simba, the Lion King
Has disney pulled another copy? its just like when they tried to remake the classic AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS it turned out to be a very putrid movie
Posted by: screaming eagle at October 5, 2005 10:51 AMThink that's blatant? Google up 'Nadia & Atlantis & Disney' for another egregious example of Disney lifting material from other sources.
Posted by: El Capitan at October 5, 2005 11:38 AMThere's no copyright on Andersen's stories. So Disney is free to write their own stuff culled from his works.
However, Tezuka looks much too recent for that to apply.
