Since Hurricane Katrinarita was heralded as proof that Global Warming is intensifying, it only makes sense that the lack of hurricanes in recent weeks are proof that Global Warming is subsiding. In fact, I can safely predict that the Northern Hemisphere will undergo a general cooling period in the coming months, followed by several more months without any hurricanes at all.
One theory is that this is caused by decreased vehicular activity due to high gas prices. Still another would suggest that more people will simply be staying put due to other commitments like school and work.
Whatever the reason, we appear to have this global warming thing licked. And the absence of any severe hurricanes is proof of that.

Also, the amount of darkness will increase drastically over the next few months for nations in the industrial Northern Hemisphere. This is due to the high emissions of some, uh, stuff, without regard to the poor feelings of those in the undeveloped world, who will be living in an era of increased temperatures, humidity and sunlight over the coming 6 months.
Contrary to the opinions of the tin-foil-hat wearing "astronomers", this has nothing to due with the so-called "23.5 deg. tilt of the Earth's axis", and everything to do with my mathematical model relating this darkening trend to nocturnal emissions (oops!) of this, umm, stuff into the atmosphere by America's SUV-driving, latte-drinking, gap-shopping, yuppies.
You heard it from Dave first, remember (about the darkness part). When you realize I am correct in a few months, you may want to check out my stock and mutual fund picks.
