The AJC routinely takes unedited comments from online readers. It's called The Vent and sometimes provides some pretty unique content:
The smell of Korean food is breaking up my marriage.Accusing Roberts of being a draft dodger, that's a new one. Of course having been born in 1955, Roberts would have been 16 years old when the U.S. began withdrawing troops from Vietnam in 1971.It won't be long before the price of gasoline will be as much as bottled water.
Even though they are making money, Hooters Airlines is a big bust.
Hooters Airlines, where passengers pray for turbulence.
Chief Justice Roberts. Healthy-looking guy. Read the bio information. Missed the mention of military service. Was he too busy, like Cheney?
Roberts could have volunteered and helped keep the military running through those decades of peace after Vietnam, like I helped keep the F111's flying for six years. If he was really gung-ho, he could have volunteered at 18 and been in at the withdrawal from the Saigon embassy in '75.
So what? Most American men Robert's age or even a few years older never served. Very few women of any generation ever served. I prefer Presidential candidates with some sort of military experience because it's certainly relevant experience to the job of Commander In Chief, but that doesn't apply to the Supreme Court.
