Tomorrow Today is National Ammo Day

ADMBan.gif

UPDATE: I went to the gun show this weekend and saw lots of guns I wanted to buy. There was a nice Marlin Camp Carbine but it was in 9mm, not .45. I also had my eye on a 9mm upper for my AR-15, and a cowboy action .45LC revolver. But with the holidays coming up I was good and stuck to just my ammoday purchase. This year's purchase was 500 rounds of Winchester 'white box' .45 ACP. I would have liked to buy more, but I already have more ammo than I'll probably ever need.

Is that for real? I could see a National Gun Rights Day, but ammo day?
I mean, no harm that I can see, but doesn't it feed the stereotypes by gun grabbers that we are made up of, literally, gun worshippers.

Head's been in the sand for how long now mikem?

Posted by: rimfirejones at November 18, 2005 7:21 PM

Chuckle. Oh yeah, Ammo Day awareness is a real test of civic knowledge.

Posted by: mikem at November 18, 2005 8:00 PM

Sorry, I jumped the gun (lol). Today (Friday) I bought:

500 rounds .22 LR
100 rounds .38 special
100 rounds .357 magnum

I already have 1000 rounds of .22 magnum, so I'm good to go there.

Any Ammo Day fantasy stories for us, rimfire?

"Disarmed" any Navy Seals for bumping into you outside the Traget Store?

Posted by: mikem at November 19, 2005 10:03 PM

The AR15.com crew is reporting in.

Looks like we did good.

Bought 3650 rounds of various handgun caliber at a local Wally World as planned. I will burn about 500-750 rounds at the range today.

At least mikem didn't call me a "dink-penised mook of a fucking troglodyte" or something just as juvenile this time around.

Posted by: rimfirejones at November 20, 2005 10:34 AM

Real class, rimjob. Falsely quoting another commenter. Certainly matches your phony security guard war stories for patheticness.
You're not easily embarrassed, are you?

Posted by: mikem at November 20, 2005 7:59 PM

national Ammo Day it sure beats a National Tree Hugging Day that the enviromentalist wackos would want

"doesn't it feed the stereotypes by gun grabbers that we are made up of, literally, gun worshippers. "

Do you kneel down and pray to your guns, MikeM? Do you know what literally means, or you a literal moron (IQ below room temperature -- Celsius)?

The idea of ammo day is to put our money where our mouths are, and money talks (see K .. the Gun Guy's discussion about Wal-Mart and the logistics data).

It could be "buy a gun" day, but some of us don't need another every year - not that there's anything wrong with that ;-] Making it ammo day means that we can show up and spend as little or much as we want and still tell the counter guy about "ammo day" to make a point about it.

BTW, I assume Sandpiper is Screaming Eagle reincarnate ;-} At least your heart's in the right place, as opposed to some other posters who also have "issues" with sentence constuction.

Do you want to buy a subject for 3 out of 4 sentences, Mikey??

Posted by: Dave Lincoln at November 21, 2005 4:07 PM

"...as opposed to some other posters who also have "issues" with sentence constuction."

Laugh out loud.

There is nothing more rewarding when commenting than to be called a moron by someone who makes grade school spelling errors in the same post. Rich beyond measure. Thanks, Dave.

I'm a gun rights supporter. And I have learned that most of the commenters here are way to the right of me, often employing militia language and talking points. Fair enough. I also understand that you guys are just trying to support ammo manufacturers with Ammo Day. Still, it has a "redneck" (in a bad sense) ring to it. For instance, they have an Abortion Provider Day but not a "scraper day". That's all I mean.

Posted by: mikem at November 21, 2005 4:31 PM

Uhh, Mike, that's a typo. You still suck at grammer. Each sentence (that's the subject) must have (that's the verb) a subject and a verb. There's no getting around it, Mike.

This is a sentence. Is not. That was not. That one was. Was. Wasn't.

Get it. Good. (not a sentence, also, BTW)

This "redneck ring" business may be all in your head.

Here's a talking point for you, Mike. Don't buy any ammo next ammo day so that you don't appear to yourself as a redneck, but shut the fuck up otherwise.

Posted by: Dave Lincoln at November 21, 2005 8:54 PM

Sure, Dave. I'll shut up. Because... ya know... you are such a frightening bully with your handy rules of sentence "constuction".
So, I'm a "moron" for making use of the implied subject, but your simple misspellings are a big ho hum. Got ya.
By the way, Einstein, a typo is when you hit an adjacent key, not leave letters out entirely.

Posted by: mikem at November 21, 2005 9:18 PM

"By the way, Einstein, a typo is when you hit an adjacent key, not leave letters out entirely."

Wrong again, a typo is mistake due to typing error, not bad grammar or intentional bad spelling, hence the word "typo".

"making use of the implied subject," What the fuck are you talking about? You have to have a subject and verb to make a sentence; I'm only saying that because you suck at it.

I'm not getting anywhere here, so happy ammo day belatedly. I got some 9mm, and a brick of 22's. I spent $25 or so and mentioned ammo day to the cashier. Good night.

Posted by: Dave Lincoln at November 22, 2005 12:53 AM

"Wrong again, a typo is mistake due to typing error..."
There you go again. I guess that's a typo too, eh?

A typing error is, well, a typing error. Like waht instead of what. Misspellings are not typos. Beootifull is not a typo. Constuction is not a typo. It's you spelling like a third grader and then trying to blame the missing "r" on your cheap keyboard.

"You have to have a subject and verb to make a sentence..."

You are one dense person. Try this: "Been there. Done that." Those are two complete sentences using a very common mechanism called, ta-da, an implied or understood subject. In each of those cases, the implied subject is "I". Get it?
"Meet me over there." Where is the subject, Einstein? (RING) It's the implied "you".
For a guy with an anal retentive fixation on other's grammar, you lack even a simple understanding of the most common subject/verb rules.
A little advice, Dave. Never try to make fun of others' mistakes if your shit ain't all together.
You end up looking like a true fool. I never make fun of spelling or grammatical errors because I know that I am just as likely to make one myself the next day. But here is the Golden Rule on the internet. If you must be a jerk, always check the spelling of your sneering putdown lest you be left looking like a laughingstock.

Posted by: mikem at November 22, 2005 2:22 AM

Try this: "Been there. Done that." Those are two complete sentences using a very common mechanism called, ta-da, an implied or understood subject.

No it is not a complete sentence, Dave. It may be colloquial, but it is not OK for written English.

You are correct about the sentence "Meet me over there", as indeed the implied subject is you, due to the imperative voice, so I agree with you here. However your writing on the following post:

"Real class, rimjob. Falsely quoting another commenter. Certainly matches your phony security guard war stories for patheticness.
You're not easily embarrassed, are you?"

has only one complete sentence out of 4 tries! That would be a 25% grade in English at the best, which is not passing, Mike.

"Beootifull is not a typo. Constuction is not a typo. It's you spelling like a third grader and then trying to blame the missing "r" on your cheap keyboard."

"Beootifull" is most likely not a typo, as the spelling shows that the writer was trying for the correct sound, and it's not likely he hit the 2 "o"'s instead of the "u" key. The 2 "l"'s are understandable - could be a typo. "Constuction" is obviously a typo, as, think about it, nobody pronounces the word without the "r", so it was just a left out letter.

The only reason I brought your whole grammar thing up is that I've been chuckling at ScreamingEagle's, aka Sandpiper's posts for a while. He types in a big hurry, has no concept of grammar, but at least the guy has views that show he understands freedom. You, Mike, are just a moron, and I can tell that from your remark about "ammo worshipping". So, I will continue to try to drive home the point that your grammar sucks ass, mainly because I don't like you.

Posted by: Dave Lincoln at November 22, 2005 10:17 AM

You keep moving the goalpost, Dave. Now your indictment of me as a moron is that colloquial English is not proper in print. (And for internet comment pages at that!) That is bullshit. Do you read literature?
Typo excuses again. So leaving out an "an" in "Wrong again, a typo is mistake due to typing error..." is a typo too, eh? How magnanimous you are to yourself. It's not even colloquial, just 'unfortunate'. (Ahem)

I can't believe you have wasted all this effort trying to attack my grammar while exposing yourself to derision as a not so hot student yourself, and all because you don't like me. (Weep) Next time don't beat around the bush. State it directly, as you finally worked up the courage to do, and save yourself embarrassment.
"... I've been chuckling at ScreamingEagle's, aka Sandpiper's posts for a while."
Really? I haven't. I can tell what he is saying and that is all that I need. But then, I'm not a pretentious twit like you.

Posted by: mikem at November 22, 2005 12:17 PM

Uh, Mike, like I said, ScreamingEagle, aka Sandpiper has the right ideas, though it's hard to read his posts, as the sentences all run together. You, on the other hand, both suck at grammar and are not bright when it comes to politics, hence my use of the word "moron". It's just the right word for you. I'm sorry I can't think of a good euphemism.

Posted by: Dave Lincoln at November 22, 2005 3:01 PM

Yes, I see you understand now that I don't like you, MikeM. The first damn thing you posted in response to Ravnwood's simple reminder about Nat'l Ammo Day was some crap about "literally worshipping our guns".

You won't get into an argument that goes on all day if you just don't write stupid shit like the above.

Posted by: Dave Lincoln at November 22, 2005 3:09 PM

All this subject/verb and written/colloquial English crap was because I insulted Ammo Day?
What are you, gay?
Good grief. Next time, just say what upsets you instead of hiding behind a facade of outraged pretentiousness.
I couldn't have been more diplomatic in my Ammo Day post. Read it again. And that caused this hissyfit of yours???

Posted by: mikem at November 22, 2005 7:51 PM

No, Mike let me repeat it:

Do you kneel down and pray to your guns, MikeM? Do you know what literally means, or you a literal moron (IQ below room temperature -- Celsius)?

The idea of ammo day is to put our money where our mouths are, and money talks (see K .. the Gun Guy's discussion about Wal-Mart and the logistics data).
