You've probably seen it before, but the point is still valid. Jewelry store owner fights for his life while the cops take 20 minutes to show up.
That was one of the most pathetic things I've ever seen; there were several people there, and NONE of them was able to do a damn thing.
Did it even occur to one of those shrieking idiots to poke him in the eye with a pencil, or hit him in the groin.
It was like watching a coyote in a pen with a bunch of lambs. And he was a piss-poor excuse for a coyote at that.
The point is indeed valid, but I'm not sure any of these people would have been able to use a gun effectively. Even this lame robber would have easily taken it from them.
I appreciate the fact that the shop owner started hitting him with a bar, but he sure didn't try very hard. A guy with a steel bar vs. an unarmed wuss should be a very short fight.
...and how about that guy with the fire extinguisher?!? Now there is a coward. He had a chance to whack the guy and end the whole episode, yet instead hid in another room while an old lady tried to do the job with an office chair. Pitiful.
Posted by: roger at September 28, 2006 1:29 PMHave to agree with you, roger. The fact that several people couldn't take down this half-ass robber is ridiculous; I know women who could have kicked his ass into next Tuesday using nothing but their purse. When a citizen is that inept at defending themself, a gun wouldn't help; a person has to have the will and imagination to fight back properly.
