I'm not sure who this guy is or why it's front page news at CNN, but did anyone else notice this kid's shaggy mane? Are all British soldiers allowed to wear their hair that long?
I've never seen U.S. troops with long hair like that (except in low-budget movies). Hell even most ex-military guys I know still wear their hair high and tight.
I read somewhere that US military are allowed to sport longer hair and beards when deployed in Afghanistan to fit better with the locals. Maybe this is the reason, or maybe it's just an exception made for the christian prince fighting muslims.

However, most military men I know would still find time to shear their locks if they got that long. Of course, they also usually just shave their heads before they jump in the humvees or tanks or what have you.
Personally, I don't care if the hair's short or not, as long as they're doing their jobs and coming back relatively unscathed.
