Does anyone else think its funny that the media actually uses terms like "Big Oil"? And how stupid does someone have to be to think that raising taxes on oil is going to lower the price of gas? (HINT: Businesses don't pay taxes, they collect them... from us.)
If anything it's going to slow domestic production and increase imports, thus making our country more vulnerable to OPEC, the Middle East, and other foreign parties. Thanks Democrats for trying to make us more dependent on foreign oil.

It seems like every Lee-Jackson-King Day the race pimps and panderers start ripping the Confederate Flag. Setting my personal feelings about the flag aside, I think it's up to a state's representatives to decide what kind of flag they fly.
That makes Joe Biden's asinine comments all the more shocking:
Sen. Joe Biden, D-Delaware, said he would vote to ban the Confederate flag from South Carolina statehouse.Perhaps Delaware should try the Gadsden Flag.

I loved the 1986 version of The Hitcher, and wasn't too thrilled to see that they remade it. And on the subject of Hollywood remakes, I usually favor the original.
So I checked out the forums for the 2007 abbreviated version of the Hitcher and found this gem of a thread:
xxothnaleyxx: i love remakes because i havent seen the original ones and i cant stand the old special effects to even try watching it.I don't remember The Hitcher having special effects, and even if it did I don't buy the argument. Star Trek The Original Series (which was cancelled years before I was born) is much better than anything the franchise has put out since. Yeah, the computers were clunky, the effects were bad, but the shows were oh so much better. If for their political incorrectness and Kirk's bravado and overacting as much as anything. But what do I know, I still watch black and white episodes of the Twilight Zone.camachoborracho: that is another reason why your generation sucks.

If this were my paper, I'd cancel my subscription:
The tax system in the United States is supposed to mitigate inequality. It is? That's news to me.

Human interest stories like this always touch my... er... heart. Believe it or not, cheerleader Summer Williams is also a rocket scientist.

When I was in school, we used to play with this stuff:
It was quite a New Year's Eve at the home of Richard Berger in Carmel - in Putnam County. Someone in the house broke a rectal thermometer and the family called 911 around 10:30 to report the small mercury spill. One hundred "first responders" arrived on the scene.Several dozen volunteers from the Carmel Fire Department responded to the house on Brookview Drive.
Fire Chief Darryl Johnson says mercury is a hazardous material that can cause stomach problems if inhaled.
Men wearing protective gear used wet sponges to clean up the puddle.
It was packaged and brought to the Carmel firehouse where the county health department will dispose of it today.
The Berger family was not hurt.
